The Art & Ecology graduate programmes at BCA provide an immersive education in ecologically oriented art. In addition to studio practice, courses include the seminar class Theory and Art & Ecology, contextualising the theoretical framework of Art & Ecology and Environment Studies, which draws on expertise from within the College of Science at the National University of Ireland Galway in engaging with scientific approaches to ecology. Lectures and field trips provide first-hand experience of the Burren as a microcosm of environmental and ecological issues while a final, distance-learning module examines the social and political context of global environmental issues. The two-year MFA programme (four semesters) prepares emerging artists who wish to practice professionally as an ecologically oriented artist, to teach at university level or to progress to PhD in Studio Art. The one-year (three semesters) MA programme provides a Masters level education in ecologically oriented art appropriate to a diverse range of applications. Application deadline: February 1, 2015
