Out of Site

New Museum, New York

Out of Site is a group exhibition featuring fictional architectural spaces and topographies that reflect how digital technology, urban and suburban growth, population sprawl, and cross-cultural experiences have impacted contemporary culture. Out of Site includes works on paper and canvas, digital photography and projection, sculpture, and installation.

Out of Site is a group exhibition featuring fictional architectural spaces and topographies that reflect how digital technology, urban and suburban growth, population sprawl, and cross-cultural experiences have impacted contemporary culture. Out of Site includes works on paper and canvas, digital photography and projection, sculpture, and installation by Haluk Akakçe, Ricci Albenda, Aziz + Cucher, Nina Bovasso, Stephen Hendee, Cannon Hudson, Craig Kalpakjian, Patrick Meagher, Julie Mehretu, Matthew Northridge, Sven Påhlsson, Adam Ross, Dannielle Tegeder, Shirley Tse, and Kevin Zucker.

The fully illustrated exhibition catalogue, published by the New Museum of Contemporary Art in collaboration with the University of Washington, Henry Art Gallery, Seattle, includes essays by Out of Site curator Anne Ellegood, Associate Curator, New Museum; Rhonda Lane Howard, Associate Curator, Henry Art Gallery; and Mark Wigley, School of Architecture, Planning, and Preservation, Columbia University, New York. Following the New Museum presentation, Out of Site will be on view at the Henry Art Gallery, Seattle, from November 8, 2002-February 2, 2003. Additional venues TBA.

Out of Site is organized by Anne Ellegood. Altoids is the presenting sponsor of Out of Site. Additional support is provided by the Toby Devan Lewis Fund for Emerging Artists, and Scott J. Lorinsky.
