Two works which are the first in an ongoing series of videos, each episode unfolds a different room within a museum. The museum that is being 'built' is a place of fantasy: no architecture is featured, nor indeed any visible human action. The only things evident are the artefacts themselves - a debris of mundane and ubiquitous objects, mass-produced utensils and kitsch ornaments. And these things drift and spin in a black void. What ensues during the course of the videos, are a series of reveries and hallucinations concerning these objects. These dwell upon the Institution that holds them, upon categories of distinction between art objects and social history artefacts and the strange and compulsive desires of consumerism. The narration is delivered graphically, unfurling silently over the images. It is comprised of a series of found texts, combining management and knowledge-organisation theory, with fragments from apocalyptic essays and stories by Theodor Adorno, Edgar Allen Poe and Jorge Luis Borges amongst others.
