sintesi del comunicato stampa

A filmscreening within the sideprogram of 'Do It To Do It' by Swiss artist Tobias Madison. On the occasion of this night two films have been chosen by the artist. Boths of which are important in Madisons work. The notion of 'exotism' in the western world - on the border between culture and civilisation - is one of the motives in the exhibition of Madison, which lead to hosting this evening. The main movie, The Cannibal Holocaust (1980, 96 min) by Ruggero Deodato, is often seen as highlight of "Cannibal" - or "Mondo" -films. The director brought to this pulp-genre a realistic documentary style and a coherent plot. In addition, Deodato introduced a paradoxical political issue: Despite of its own lurid brutality, the film exposes a clear cultural critique on mass media of the 1980s and its tendency towards sensationalism. In 2006, Entertainment Weekly magazine named 'The Cannibal Holocaust' as one of the 20 most controversial film of all-time.
