Keren Cytter and Chris Markers

This public event aims to give access to a particular source of inspiration for Keren Cytter that lead to the production of her mocumentaty "The Hottest Day of the Year", namely Chris Markers fictional documentary "Sans Soleil" (1983). Both films will be shown after each other on one of the big screens of the exhibition features a personal selection of her overall artistic production over the last 5 years: films, texts, drawings and installations (until 27/3/2011). In a modern society in which every sense of reality and memory is controlled by visual impulse, it is the Berlin based artist Keren Cytter that describes a human emotion that is controlled by scripted archetypes and visual references. It is this language that continues to inspire the artist as well as her audience, offering a powerful juxtaposition between a visual and a scripted worldview.
