Short & Sharp

291 Gallery, London

Group show. The exhibition will converge towards a point of focus the spatial/temporal disjuncture. The context is a cultural exchange aiming at mapping the issues of identity and space to unfold representational dichotomies in (dis)identification - a process of tactical becoming as 'other', as the visual metaphor of opening possibilities of multiple appearances through a multiplicity of psychical and social locations.

In this respect, issues of visible/ invisible loss have altered states of reality and of the potential for rejuvenation were raised. 'Short & Sharp' aims to show the work of a group of artists who came together only by their periodic dislocation from their original place within the proliferation.

The enormous neo-gothic 291 Gallery space, perfect for large-screen video, projections performative works and audio works, will be hosted for the film screening night of the 'Short & Sharp' event in January 2003. Durational and staged performances will be interspersed with programmes of artist's film and video projected in the Main Gallery and the Bar.
