This three-week long exhibition celebrates the work of Kuwaiti artist Hameed Khazaal. The exhibition will feature several paintings from two different period of artist’s career 80’s and 00’s and it will be his first SOLO exhibition in last 8 years. United by common idea all paintings are an exploration of symbols and forms, an intimate trip inside human emotions, subconscious or unconscious, caught and reinterpreted by artist. The exhibition will focus primarily on the series of paintings created between 2003-2005, that can be admired by the public for the first time. It was a period (concluded in May, 2005) when the State of Kuwait was in its historical transition to grant women right to vote and the artist has decided to contribute with his art to this epochal change.
At that time artist abandoned surrealism and explored in the field of post figurative expressive abstraction. In his large-scale expressive works Women appears mostly as fluid vibrant silhouettes of singular beauty, full of movement, caught in different moments of everyday life, full of reflection, dreams and desire. and we can see that their struggle for political rights is a simple declaration of their beauty essence and powerful freedom.
