dotLand

A Space , Berlin

The group show marks the debut of Peninsula, an interdisciplinary platform dedicated to developing a dialog with Berlin's international artistic and cultural community. This group of artists, largely Italian, seeks to foster a confrontation with the moment at hand by engaging architects, writers, musicians and all those who operate within the cultural sector. It is an idea of culture constantly reconstituting and rewriting itself beyond geopolitical boundaries.

The group show dotLand, which opens Friday, September 26, marks the debut of Peninsula, an interdisciplinary platform dedicated to developing a dialog with Berlin's international artistic and cultural community. Peninsula is a group of artists, largely Italian, who have settled in Berlin during the last decade that seeks to foster a confrontation with the moment at hand by engaging architects, writers, musicians and all those who operate within the cultural sector. Peninsula takes its cue from the concept of Third Culture as a Third Space. It is an idea of culture constantly reconstituting and rewriting itself beyond geopolitical boundaries.

The show's title is a statement in itself. dotLand neither delineates nor indicates a country set within physical borders. It is an open territory in which communities of intentions and ideas are shared, in dedication to Jean-Luc Nancy's Being Singular Plural as metaphor of a social and intercultural encounter and exchange that takes its momentum from the shared experience of Berlin by Peninsula's members. For this initial event, the artists of Peninsula have invited an equal number of artists from a wide variety of nationalities in order to create an exhibition that conceivably inaugurates a selective relationship with the city and the many cultures it hosts.

dotLand thus serves as the ideal place of encounter between multiplicity and differences, under the heading of multidisciplinarity. It can be read as an “index” of different languages, in which the variety of forms and styles underlines the relationship and the necessity of the Other. Peninsula's first event will take place at A SPACE thanks to the support and hospitality of Natulis Group AG and the media partner Berlin Quarterly. The event is under the patronage of the Berlin Italian Culture Institute. Peninsula presently consists of: Rebecca Agnes, Elena Agudio, Yvonne Andreini, Elena Bari, Elena Bellantoni, Ilaria Biotti, Paolo Bottarelli, Nicola Maria Bramante, Antonio Catelani, Loris Cecchini, Alessandro Ceresoli, Martina Della Valle, Fiorentino De Martino, Elenia Depedro, Luigi De Simone, Bruno Di Lecce, Eleonora Farina, Flatform, Bernardo Giorgi, Claudio Gobbi, Mario Iannelli, Daniele Jost, Armin Linke, Nico Lippolis, Makingthinkshappen, Maruska Mazza, Stefania Migliorati, Ottonella Mocellin & Nicola Pellegrini, Lea Julie Mugnaini, Christian Niccoli, Athéna Panni, Alessia Pastore, Federico Pietrella, Marco Poloni, Riccardo Previdi, Carola Spadoni, Patrick Tuttofuoco, Luca Vitone, Jade Vlietstra, Alexandra Wolframm, Elena Zanichelli.
