Olafur Eliasson

Aspen Art Museum, Aspen

For this presentation, Eliasson, who now resides in Berlin, will create an installation involving both the Lower and Upper Galleries. This will be the artist's most significant presentation following his participation in the Danish Pavilion at the 2003 Venice Biennale and his extraordinary The Weather Project installation within the great Turbine Hall at Tate Modern in London, which attracted over one-million visitors in its first three months.

Danish artist Olafur Eliasson is well known for site-specific sculptures and installations that reflect his unique vision of the natural world. His works fuse aspects of Earth and Minimal Art and often utilize common elements from nature, such as grass, light, steam, water, or ice. His projects are often simulations of natural phenomena which the artist renders through manmade processes. All of Eliasson's art‹whether sculpture, installation, or photography‹is intended to create a heightened sense of the viewer's surroundings.
