comunicato stampa

(CONSTRUCTED SITUATIONS), an event organised in celebration of its 10th anniversary

In order to mark the 10th anniversary of attitudes, we have decided to create a unique artistic event in our exhibition space in Geneva. The aim of this project is to approach contemporary art from numerous perspectives, enabling a better exploration of relevant issues, with particular reference to the mechanisms of perception and presentation.

In terms of space, the project will take place in all available areas, interior and exterior, of the building: the façade, the building and gallery’s entrance halls, the main exhibition space, even the office. This expansion will enable us to create several environments dedicated to the artists, a video room and to host a series of soirées/events.

Important transformations will take place in the exhibition space: a long platform will be constructed to form a second mezzanine level. Four modular constructions will be installed on this platform, with access provided by individual staircases. Each structure will be invested by an artist.

We have invited 10 artists to produce works of an environmental type, which will take possession of the walls, floor and even the ceiling of our space. This decision means that all the pieces shall be specifically designed for this exhibition.

Furthermore, a wall will separate the main exhibition space into two parts. This will create a lounge room where visitors will be able to discover a different film, continuously projected, every day. In total 33 films and videos will be shown throughout the exhibition, either on the large screen or the individual video monitor. In the evening, the lounge will host performances, concerts, conferences and round table discussions (6 evenings are already programmed on the list below).

The 19th edition of the journal, to be delivered around the 11th October, will contain all the details of the programme, as well as original contributions from all the artists taking part in the project.
