con|temporary continues - in a new temporary space on Leipziger Straße in Berlin. The opening exhibition presents 'Berlin Paintings' by Nikola Irmer
The pictures of Nikola Irmer are a multi-layered and continuous
investigation in her models' personality, be it the cross-dresser 'Horst' or
the juvenile punks in the Mauerpark of Berlin. She fixates their bodies and
gestures in often coarse brushstrokes, describing the harsh figures of the
youths in the idyllic greenery of the park or confers the lightness of a
silken scarf on the massive male body.
Nikola Irmer (*1970) has studied at Hunter College of City University in New
York, Glasgow School of Artund and San Francisco Art Institute. She is now
working and living in Berlin.
