"Runaway Slave" is the result of the artists investigation of his historical and cultural identity. The works are the culmination of an analytical deconstruction of his views and opinions on modern day culture and politics. Through them, the viewer is taken on an intense visual journey -- one that is both unnerving and reflective of urban American culture at the start of the 21st Century.

Working with vehicle characters that are alter-ego personae, said characters represent the many facets of the artist's perception, which evolve with every piece. The characters are shady and neurotic, brave and innocent, and seem to be constantly trying to escape or jump off the canvas. They are archetypes incorporated into a visual reflection of American culture and politics.

Heavily influenced by comic books and graffiti art, the artist combines traditional techniques and illustration methods to create cinematic states of thought. He uses collage and impulsive painting styles, coupled with graffiti elements and comic book narrative. This artist is relentless with the application and is anarchic with the process. Everything is reusable, from found scraps of cardboard, to white out pens.

Originally from Minneapolis, Minnesota, Logik currently resides in New York City. This is Logik's second solo show at McCaig-Welles Gallery, and has exhibited at numerous locations throughout NYC while being commissioned for both private and public collections. Logik is not just the name the artist writes, but also a studio philosophy that fuses self-study with an underground urban aesthetic.
