Part 2: Mickry 3
...the artists (Christina Pfander, Dominique Vigne and Nina von Meis) will have their debut North American solo exhibition at Lizabeth Oliveria Gallery. This exhibition will open July 9th and run until August 13th, 2005.
The work of Mickry 3 examines the dichotomy between opposites as they are brought together as one. Essentially, Mickry 3 attempts and succeeds at holding a mirror up to the face of our society and revealing a fascinating--sometimes grotesque--and caricatured reflection of what, upon second glance, is a telling representation of ourselves through another’s eyes. For MICKRYMORPHOSIS PART 2, Mickry 3 will be exhibiting several series of their paper machie, sculptural morphosis.
Collaborating together for seven years, Mickry 3 is a group of three women that met at the HSFG in Zurich where they obtained their art degrees. They have exhibited extensively in Switzerland with their SUPERMARKET project, which consisted of a site specific installation, handmade products in unlimited editions, and a catalogue (published by Kunstraum Walcheturm, Zurich) which illustrates all the available goods. SUPERMARKET represents the concept that art should be for everyone and affordable for any budget.
Mickry 3 has had numerous solo exhibitions throughout Europe such as Museum für angewandte und zeitgenössische Kunst, MAK-Wachen im M3 Supermarkt, Vienna, Austria; Lokremise, Samlung Hauser und Wirth; M3 Supermarkt, St. Gallen, Switzerland; Show Room Holt, Superstudio-Industrio, Supermarketinstallation,Milan, Italy and Galerie Hinterconti, Hamburg, Germany. Mickry 3 has also participated in group exhibitions including Museum Plattenstrosse, Sammlung Hauser und wir. Zurich, Switzerland; Kunstverein im Hamburger Bohnhoff, Feine Ware, Berlin, Germany; and Plattenstrasse, Kristallinstallation, Zurich, Switerland. They are represented by Groeflin Maag Galeria, Basel, Switzerland, where their solo exhibition, HOT SPOT, is currently on view.
This exhibition has been partially funded by Pro Helvetia Arts Council Switzerland.
