A Tribute to Robert Altman
In person: screenwriter Joan Tewkesbury
Celebrating Nashville's 25th anniversary and Robert Altman's 75th birthday, we bestow him with the second Scottsdale Film Achievement Award, to be accepted on his behalf by writer Joan Tewkesbury. Nominated four times for the Best Director Oscar (for M*A*S*H, Nashville, The Player, and Shortcuts), Altman's masterpiece is undoubtedly Nashville (1975), set against a political rally and intricately layering stories of 24 characters--played by an all-star cast including Lily Tomlin, Geraldine Chaplin, Keith Carradine, Karen Black, and Ned Beatty.
