comunicato stampa

Of Audiovisual Programs.

The festival presents a selection of the year's most noteworthy international television programs, screened in cinemas for an audience of professionals and the public at large. The programs represent television production in all its diversity : drama, reportage and current affairs, creative documentaries, series & serials, music and the performing arts and short programs.

Six juries (one for each section, composed of five personalities) will attribute the Golden Fipa and Silver Fipa awards to the best programs in each category. In addition, in the "Drama" and "Series & Serials" categories, there will be Golden and Silver Fipas for best actors, best screenplay and best original music. For the fifth consecutive year, the Michel Mitrani Prize, created in memory of Fipa's founder, will be awarded to a first, second or third French program (from any category) for its spirit of resistance, its unusual style or its innovative approach. Two non-competitive sections will be devoted to French production (Aspects of French Production and Aspects of French International Coproductions).

This year the Fipa will pay tribute to the National Film Office of Canada.

The Fipa is also the Fipatel, a selective TV market and work tool for professionals only. In 2000, the Fipatel logged in more than 2,100 consultations.

The circle of Fipa's overseas correspondents has grown with the arrival of the Export Union of Deutschen Films for Germany.

In 2000, the Fipa registered some 1,800 professional accreditations.

President: Marie-France Pisier.
Artistic director: Pierre-Henri Deleau.
Secretary General: Jean-Michel Ausseil.
