Berlin, Birmingham, Boston MA, Caithness, Cyprus, Dublin, Edinburgh,
Glasgow, Japan, Kentucky, London, Los Angeles, Manchester, Newcastle,
Plymouth and Sheffield.
The selectors of EAST 06 are Turner Prize winning artist 2004, Jeremy Deller
and Dirk Snauwaert Artistic Director of Wiels, the major new art venue due
to open in Brussels at the end of this year. He was previously curator at
Palais des Beaux Arts in Brussels, Kunstverein in Munchen and IAC at
Villeurbanne, Lyon. He has curated exhibitions of the work of Wide White
Space, David Lamelas Andre Cadere and Adrian Piper.
EAST is selected exhibition without a theme. This year a new work is being
commissioned from Thomas Ranahan, Chris Evans, Ruth Ewan, Rebecca Birch and
Mark Boulos. EAST has also funded off site projects by Rory MacBeth, Hewitt
& Jordan + Beech, John Lloyd & Kate Williams, David Brazier and Matt Stokes.
Performance work is planned with Masayuki Suzuki and Vaast Colson.
