comunicato stampa

This exhibition is the first major retrospective of renowned photographer Fay Godwin. Including insightful portraits of writers and poets, strikingly beautiful black and white landscapes and recent jewel-like colour work, it offers a comprehensive over view of one of Britain’s most respected photographers.

Using natural light and photographing writers and poets in their own homes, Fay Godwin’s literary portraits radiate a genuine intimacy and warmth. Her keen observations of our relationship with nature are humorous and tragic in turn. Surreal images of horses and telephone boxes are counterbalanced by achingly beautiful images of land laid waste by man. Fay’s recent glorious colour work shows the nature we think we know as really exotic and unknown.

Fay Godwin brings a compassionate and considered gaze to all she photographs, leaving the viewer with memorable and thought provoking images. Interspersed with the poetry these photographs have been inspired by and inspired, this exhibition stands as both a body of beautiful work and a testament to our uneasy relationship with nature.
