Combining the romance of a 19th century salon with a multitude of contemporary themes, The Painting Room showcases a comprehensive selection of the most exciting new painting today.

The transformative quality of painting’s language, current vitality and continuing ability to re-invent itself is represented in The Painting Room, showing how painting today is a multifaceted media of expression where ideas ranging from the playful to conceptual, fairytale to melancholic and historical to ultra-modern combine to reiterate the sheer exuberance of painting.

The Painting Room will continue and build on Transition Gallery’s strong reputation for showing the most exciting new painting and includes work from: Lee Maelzer, Rose Wylie, Sigrid Holmwood, Andrew Bracey, Jo Wilmot, Emma Talbot, Eleanor Moreton, Carolina Ambida, Sarah Jeffries, Tamara Dubnyckyj, Mimei Thompson, Ryan Mosley, Gary McDonald, Laura Oldfield Ford, Jake Clark, Nadia Hebson, Paul Becker, Marenka Gabeler, Polly Read, Rebecca Knapp.
