MUSAC Contemporary Art Museum, Leon
Acclaimed American artist Paul Pfeiffer inaugurates Monologue, his first one person project in Spain. Terence Koh presents Love for eternity, a foray into the unique creative universe of the Chinese-Canadian artist. Salvador Cidras is to unveil "24 hours 10 minutes", a large site-specific installation of new works conceived and executed by the artist. Retorno a Hansala is a take on the creative process behind director Chus Gutierrez's most recent film, from the perspective of artists Alfredo Caliz, Rogelio Lopez Cuenca and Montserrat Soto. The space Laboratorio 987 hosts the show Gallo rojo, gallo negro by Antonio Ballester Moreno, and for the Showcase Project, MUSAC has invited Fake Magazine.

Terence Koh presents Love for eternity, a foray into the unique creative universe of the Chinese-Canadian artist. Salvador Cidrás is to unveil 24 horas 10 minutos [24 hours 10 minutes], a large site-specific installation of new works conceived and executed by the artist and produced by MUSAC. On the Exhibition Hall 1, Retorno a Hansala, a take on the creative process behind director Chus Gutiérrez's most recent film, from the perspective of artists Alfredo Cáliz, Rogelio López Cuenca and Montserrat Soto. The space Laboratorio 987 will host until November the show Gallo rojo, gallo negro by Antonio Ballester Moreno, and for the Showcase Project, MUSAC has invited Fake Magazine to develop an initiative, produced by the Museum itself, that essentially revolves around a special issue devoted to today's art, for which guest editor Tolo Cañellas has selected a number of works by contemporary artists.

MUSAC presents Paul Pfeiffer. Monologue, the acclaimed American artist's first one-person exhibition held in Spain. Through this show, and the monographic publication that accompanies it, MUSAC re-examines the complex and sophisticated work of a creator who represents an essential referent in the international art scene of the past decade. Conceived as a select overview of the artist's production from the past decade, this exhibition, which also includes recently produced projects, examines some of the fundamental pillars of a body of work that is outstanding in the United States art scene, where it is among the most recognized and influential of its generation.

Love for eternity constitutes a foray into the unique creative universe of Chinese-Canadian artist Terence Koh (Beijing, China, 1980), where cultures and identities blend with influences from post-minimalism and 1970s body art to create a personal cosmos governed by decadence and deliberate excess, providing the onlooker moments of fragile beauty. Koh's first solo exhibition in Spain, Love for eternity will allow the public to revisit the artist's creative career from his early works signed under the alias Asian Punk Boy, to the present, with an ad hoc installation created for MUSAC and two performances on the opening night.

The Museo the arte Contemporáneo de Castilla y León is to host 24 horas 10 minutos [24 hours 10 minutes], a large site-specific installation of new works conceived and executed by artist Salvador Cidrás and produced by MUSAC. In 24 horas 10 minutos, Cidrás inquires into youth as a value, placing special emphasis on the world of adolescent males and the symbolic relationships they develop in their everyday environments. The artist reshapes the exhibition space, adapting urban items and practices in order to reconstruct teenage stereotypes and explore the narratives that interfere in the construction of their identity.

Under the title Intangible Actions, MUSAC is to contribute to the Frieze Art Fair 08 with the work of three Spanish artists who have held solo shows under the museum's regular exhibition schedule. MUSAC, guest institution at Frieze 08, intends to challenge the traditional approach to an institution's role within an art fair. Thus, rather than acting as merely another agent at the fair, we have opted to showcase Dora Garcías invisible performance The Romeos; Carles Congost's project Art Ringtone and Moments of Intensity, an action by Marc Vives + David Bestué. In addition, the space allocated to MUSAC at Frieze will be used to distribute free copies of a special edition of FAKE magazine with artwork commissioned especially for the occasion.
