Lunedì 25 febbraio alle ore 18 presso la Triennale - Palazzo dell’Arte di Milano prosegue con l’artista Zoe Leonard l’ottava edizione della Generazione delle Immagini. Reality’s Desire-Desiderio di realtà, un ciclo di otto incontri sull’arte contemporanea con la partecipazione di curatori, teorici e artisti internazionali. La manifestazione, organizzata dal Comune di Milano - Settore Giovani e curata da Roberto Pinto, proseguirà fino a marzo a cadenza settimanale.

L’americana Zoe Leonard presenta la sua produzione fotografica e le sue installazioni caratterizzate da un evidente dichiarazione di impegno politico e al tempo stesso estremamente attente ad una resa estetico-formale di altissima qualità. Le sue opere sono conservate in alcune istituzioni museali di primaria importanza, quali il MoMA di New York e il Philadelphia Museum of Art.

Zoe Leonard (USA)

Nata a Liberty, N.Y., nel 1961, Zoe Leonard vive e lavora a New York.
Fotografa, scultrice, regista, la Leonard inizia ad esporre nel 1979, con una prima personale presso la Fourth Street Photo Gallery di New York.
Attratta dallo scorrere del tempo e dalle modificazioni che esso produce nella vita quotidiana, nelle sue immagini la Leonard cerca di cogliere i segni del passato, le tracce di usura che si depositano sugli oggetti: un paio di scarpe, una serie di valigie, una scritta pubblicitaria diventano allora gli strumenti per indagare l'uomo, sempre più spesso rappresentato non direttamente ma attraverso ciò che fa parte del suo immaginario quotidiano. Le sue fotografie sono documenti di vita, scattati e rielaborati in fase di stampa anche per anni, nel tentativo di dare un ordine e conferire un senso al mondo che ritraggono.
In tutte le sue opere Zoe Leonard ha affiancato ad un intento politico programmatico, una grande cura volta all'aspetto estetico delle immagini e al loro equilibrio compositivo.
Nonostante la giovane età, la Leonard ha preso parte a numerose esposizioni personali e collettive. Le sue opere sono presenti in molte collezioni private e pubbliche, tra cui al MoMA di New York, al Philadelphia Museum of Art di Philadelphia e al Groninger Museum di Groningen, Olanda.

I Contenuti
Gli artisti chiamati a partecipare a questi incontri sono tutti molto affermati nel panorama internazionale, anche se alcuni di loro sono molto giovani. Come nelle precedenti edizioni, anche in questa si è cercato di aprire a 360° lo spettro degli interventi, portando esperienze di nazioni e culture diverse.
Quello che emerge e contraddistingue molta produzione artistica recente, è la necessità di confrontarsi con la realtà interagendo con essa. Naturalmente l’artista cerca di lavorare a livello metaforico, evidenziando contraddizioni o smontando meccanismi che sembrano ormai elementi naturali della nostra società. In questi interventi spesso l’artista coinvolge altre persone o costruisce vere e proprie narrazioni che interagiscono con la realtà stessa.
L’opera rappresenta sovente un desiderio di relazione, l’aspirazione a cambiare le regole che la realtà inevitabilmente comporta.

La Generazione delle immagini è:
Un appuntamento? Non solo. La Generazione delle immagini rappresenta una panoramica molto puntuale e anticipatrice delle tendenze che, a distanza di tempo - anche se di tempi brevi perché l’ambito è comunque la 'contemporaneità'- si sono già consolidate lasciando di sé una forte traccia.
I titoli di questa rassegna dal 1994 ad oggi danno la precisa consistenza dei contenuti: Incontri con l’arte contemporanea, Sguardi planetari, La città degli interventi, Facts & Fiction- arte e narrazione, Paesaggio in movimento, Atmosfere Metropolitane, Racconti di Identità, cui si aggiunge l’ottavo, Reality's Desire - Desiderio di realtà.
Sono capitoli di un lungo itinerario che si snoda attraverso la visione a volte inquietante, spesso utopica, mai banale che gli artisti hanno e danno del mondo che ci circonda, mondi differenti, lontani ma senza barriere e senza confini geografici, uniti dal comune denominatore della poetica artistica.
