The artist and her work

A lecture by Elisabetta Benassi, video, film, installation and performance artist. Her vision involves human beings nearly stripped of hope and pleasure, and instead dominated by ritualistic interactions with cultural, mechanical and architectural relics. Emblematic images of futility and decay are her motomen, human/mechanical hybrids who finish up in junkyards. In Benassi's unsentimental work, the craftsmanship is precise and the eye is exacting, even as musical and poetical references contribute to an elegiacal mood.
