comunicato stampa

For the first time, over three hundred drawings, sculptures, photographs, videos and prints will survey the production of ten years of Angel Orensanz in Italy. New York based sculptor Angel Orensanz has developed an extensive body of work during a decade in a dozen Italian cities such as Venice, Florence, Rome, Pavullo, Bari, Rocca Farnese, Caserta, Reggio and Messina, building a powerful discursive integration of his art and iconic urban sites. A group of photographers and video artists has extensively documented Orensanz's creativity and artistic energy in the process.

This exhibition assembling an impressive body of original work and documentation will be presented over three floors of the Angel Orensanz Foundation. This venerable building, erected in 1849 by the first German Jewish community in New York, and considered one of the most beautiful structures in America, will embrace his work for almost two months.

The exhibition was curated by the prestigious art writer Thomas McEvilley with the support of a group of art directors in Italy, led by Dr. John T. Spike, and a dynamic team of designers in New York.
