Tom Friedman

Museum of Contemporary Art MCA, Chicago

comunicato stampa

This exhibition of work by Tom Friedman is the first museum survey of the artist's career. Friedman, who graduated from the University of Illinois at Chicago, is known for his use of such common materials as toothpaste, toilet paper, chewing gum, drinking straws, and construction paper to create modest, often humorous works that transcend artworld trends.
The exhibition will include approximately thirty of Friedman's sculptures, works on paper, and other pieces, including new works made especially for this show, in the MCA's Turner, Cohen, Stone Family, and fourth-floor lobby galleries.
The MCA is the first venue for the national tour of this exhibition, which was organized by the Southeastern Center for Contemporary Art, Winston-Salem, North Carolina. The exhibition is coordinated by Lynne Warren, Curator, and is accompanied by a catalogue in the form of an artists' book by Tom Friedman.
