Due to Sparwassers background in the Scandinavian art scene and as a network for Scandinavian artists in Berlin, we are very happy to be able to present the video program BLICK, giving a general view over the latest developments in the field of film- and video art in the Nordic countries.

Nifca writes:
The use of video as an artistic medium increased exponentially throughout the 1990s and has had a notable presence in the Nordic countries. BLICK provides access to new Nordic film and video work that is being produced by emerging artists.
As the result of an open submission process advertised in the main Nordic art publications and through a poster campaign, 666 video works were submitted for consideration and a selection of around 40 works has been made by Rebecca Gordon Nesbitt (NIFCA), Maria Lind and Cecilia Widenheim (both Moderna Museet).
These works have been compiled and screened, with related discussions, at NIFCA, Helsinki 6-7 October 2001 and Moderna Museet, Stockholm 20-21 October 2001 and have then be available for an international tour.

A catalogue will accompany the programme, with an introduction by the curators and a short text about each work.
