Long before man ever set foot in space, writers and artist have journeyed out on fantastic space travels. While the visions of artists were inspired by developments in science and changed accordingly, scientists in their turn have allowed their discoveries to be fuelled by these imaginations. A group show, opening 9pm.

Long before man ever set foot in space, writers and artist have
journeyed out on fantastic space travels. While the visions of artists
were inspired by developments in science and changed accordingly,
scientists in their turn have allowed their discoveries to be fuelled by
these imaginations. As the process of appropriating space continues, a
whole culture, politics and ethics will develop alongside it, embracing
domains that can't be left to scientists alone. Artists have always been
at the forefront of cultural and social shifts, and so it should as it
comes to space development. Besides more fantastic approaches, artistic
visions have started to focus on the realities of space exploration, its
political and social practices, on the influence of the collective
memory of the classical space age, and on more political approaches to
empower the individual for his right to space, either working with or
against the space agencies. Crafting Space brings together artists who,
from many different perspectives, take a look into space.
