This year the annual collaboration between the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences and the Department of Film, features documentary films from the 1950s through the 1970s that explore the natural world in all its complexity. Stunning precursors to today's "green" films, these Oscar-nominated shorts and feature-length nonfiction films prioritize a sense of adventure and urgency in their structure and advocacy.
