sintesi del comunicato stampa

Presented by the Africa Centre, a not-for-profit organisation that aims to explore contemporary Pan-African artistic practice. Spier Contemporary is a large-scale national competition and juried exhibition, to reflect the diversity of the broad arts community living in South Africa. From 2,700 entries 101 artists have been selected to exhibit 132 art pieces. A range of awards supports the professional development of the winning artists. Distilled from over 2,700 national submissions, it is a visual and aural barometer of South Africa in 2010. The artists have contemplated and exposed every element of the South African condition: our fears, our joys, our humour and our trepidations. It speaks to the past, and imagines the future. It serves up a plethora of views and challenges us to think differently. It gives us a poetic, private moment with our world.
