illy issimo, New York

The MFA Photography, Video and Related Media Department is pleased to announce the finalists and New York City exhibition of the AuthentiCity contest. In partnership with illy issimo and Ilko Coffee International, the contest was aimed at young international artists who are SVA students or alumni. The artists were asked to use photography to explore the dynamics of urban life through photography. For the first round of the competition, approximately 20 semi-finalists were exhibited in Milan as part of the 2010 Salone del Mobile di Milano. Out of those artists, 5 received a commission to work over the summer and compete for a 10,000 USD prize. The finalists are now exhibited in NYC during the Food and Wine Festival. They include: Carlos Alvarez Montero, Igor Aronov, Matt Baum, Giselle Behrens, and Caroline Shepard.
