Special Projects
The Fair is underpinned by a series of special projects contributing to the dialogue on contemporary art. This programming reinforces the Fair’s reputation as the most comprehensive and thought-provoking art experience in Canada.

Everything Must Go
Curated by Jeremy Laing
Every year Art Toronto presents special curated projects and exhibits to compliment the dynamic roster of participating international galleries. This year, the Art Toronto 2010 feature project explores the relationship between art and fashion.
Curated by fashion designer Jeremy Laing, Everything Must Go takes the form of a mini-department store or luxury boutique. Housed within the Fair, this shop-in-shop is outfitted with work engaging with the forms, manners and aesthetic of mercantile display and salesmanship. Everything is art and anything can be bought, from the fixtures, such as the specially commissioned Marman & Borins shelves and the Luis Jacob neon sign piece, to the selection of multiples drawn from both emerging and established artists and art collectives, like Derek Sullivan and AA Bronson.

Canadian Art Now
Presented by Canadian Art Magazine
The new exhibition series Canadian Art Now, curated by Canadian Art editor Richard Rhodes looks at works by contemporary Canadian artists and is scheduled in three separate exhibitions during the Fair. A discussion of the art with Richard Rhodes, takes place at 2:00pm Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

Power Talks 2010
Power Talks presents influential art world figures in discussion about their current projects, preoccupations and ideas. In a polarized environment in which large audiences, widespread media interest, and record prices for contemporary art are matched by decreased public funding, speakers discuss the balancing acts that they perform as leaders of some of the world’s most admired visual arts institutions. The Power Talks are presented in partnership with The Power Plant.
Power Talks take place Friday 6pm, Saturday 4pm, Sunday 4pm.

T at Three
Presented by Border Crossings Magazine.
An insightful and stimulating interview series conducted by Border Crossings magazine senior contributing editor Robert Enright. T at Three features two days of lively conversations with artists, curators, critics and gallerists. It offers a unique perspective on the making and meaning of artist works brought to Art Toronto by galleries from across Canada and around the world. Each afternoon’s discussions will be introduced by Border Crossings’ Editor Meeka Walsh. Presented in partnership with Border Crossings magazine and Art Toronto.
T at Three takes place Saturday and Sunday at 3pm.

Constellation Program
Curated by Nicholas Brown & Catherine Dean
co-sponsored by Parts & Labour
The Constellation Program presents a unique exhibition at Art Toronto by presenting the viewer with the opportunity to engage personally with art. “Viewing stations” are set up in various locations around the Fair and invite the visitors in to connect with a piece of artwork in a secluded setting. Catherine Dean and Nicholas Brown curated this project in conjunction with Castor Design, and Parts and Labour, in order to bring together this event constructed of works by local, national, and international artists.

Named for NASA’s project for human extra-terrestrial exploration, Constellation Program consists of seven small, self-contained spaces distributed throughout the Fair, created in collaboration with Castor Design. Intended to offer viewers a temporary escape from the crowds and bright lights of the Fair, each space contains work drawn from a mix of local, national and international artists. Constellation Program gives viewers the opportunity to spend time with singular works across a variety of media in a unique, secluded context.

Buy Early, Buy Young
The Art Stylists, Manny Neubacher and Anya Shor will lead a comprehensive tour of young art stars at this year’s Art Toronto. Learn the benefits of investing early in an artist’s career - financial advantages, availability and accessibility. The Art Stylists will de-mystify the process of beginning and building a collection and provide informative tips on what to look for when investing in young contemporary artists and how to build a well-rounded and thoughtful collection regardless of budget and spatial limitations. The discussion and tour will focus on art under $5000 in order to give audience the opportunity to view attainable pieces at the lower end of the price scale but still providing aspiring examples of perhaps larger pieces at the higher end that are still within reason for a novice collector.
Buy Early, Buy Young takes place at 6pm on Friday.

Trust the Experts: Intimate tours with experts from the art world

Join us as we examine works of art ranging from photography, painting, sculpture, and new media.
Trust the Expert tours take place daily at 4pm.
