Artist-in-Residence. Tenets of Impermanent Value: the show comprises two installations, a mural and a series of pen-on-paper drawings

sintesi del comunicato stampa

Artist-in-Residence February 2011. An Australian-Albanian by self-definition, Memishi's work is at a cross road between architecture, ornament and history. His examination of everyday sign systems is conducted within a formalist, geometric language he calls 'the cartography of the everyday'. Memishi is the recipient of the preeminent Theodore Urbach Prize (1994) and the Studio Residency Award at 200 Gertrude Street in Melbourne (1996), yet as a practicing artist he rarely exhibits by choice, opting instead to support Australia's promising young talent as a guerilla gallerist. An exhibition titled "Tenets of Impermanent Value" will present Memishi's new work and his residency will be accompanied by a comprehensive education programme during his stay. The show comprises two installations, a mural and a series of pen-on-paper drawings. Blood Mountain Foundation is an arts organisation providing new discourse about contemporary visual culture and creative thought through curatorial and education programmes, artists' residencies and special projects. Blood Mountain Foundation provides up to four emerging-to-mid career international artists with an opportunity to live and work in Budapest each year for periods up to four weeks. Opening: Tuesday, 22 February 2011, 6-8pm.
