We are pleased to announce Torinover in Salt Lake City - USA, the third step of a worldwide tour of the exhibition organized by Elle Contemporaryprojects - cultural association, in co-operation with City of Turin, and the cities of Glasgow, Rotterdam, Salt Lake City and Nagoya. After the success of Glasgow and Rotterdam, where the exhibition can be visited at the CBK, Torinover 1year Message! is presented in Salt Lake City at various institutional spaces. For the occasion will be also presented a video of Jimmy and Beth Miklavcic, which brings the project right to the core of the local art community.

A unique collection of international video art pieces on the environment is set to be unveiled at various locations in the Salt Lake Valley project organizers announced this week.
“I think art has tremendous power to connect. These artistic statements from around the world do just that. They all make us think about the planet we share,” said Maryda Gallo, Salt Lake City Sister Cities Torino representative.
TorinOver is an international contemporary art exhibition that spreads out nationally and internationally from Turin. It started in 2007 and continues bringing exciting and varying art themes from around the world for public consumption.
“The show as a whole explores the theme of the environment, its relative contradictions and commonplaces by analyzing the difficult and complex situation in which the planet finds itself in this historic moment, where the future appears far from bright. The exhibition aims to bring about a greater awareness of some of these issues by enlisting the communicative power of artistic languages to provoke reflection and stir action,” said Elisa Lenhard, project curator in Torino, Italy.
Video segments from Rotterdam, Glasgow and Nagoya are among featured cities. Some of the videos examine smog, trees, garbage and finding a place to call home.
“Having Jimmy and Beth Miklavcic involved brings the project right to the core of our wonderful art community. Their art video is another important treatment of the environmental theme,” said Gallo.
The Miklavcic segment appears in the TorinOver DVD and will be shown along with the other videos playing in Salt Lake City.
Project organizers say the Miklavcic’s  Another Language Performing Arts Company aided in completing the project.
The public unveiling of the TorinOver art videos will be June 20, 2011 at the Salt Lake City Hall with continuous showings to follow at various locations around the valley.
