Taliban Bullet Holes and Crude Oil Silkscreens. A solo show with a large and concise body of works
Taliban Bullet Holes and Crude Oil Silkscreens. In August 2010 Piers Secunda travelled to Kabul, Afghanistan to cast confirmed Taliban bullet holes from 2 suicide bomb attack sites. This was achieved with the help of a regional the Kabul Police Chief, and his security detail. Over the last year, a large and concise body of works has developed around these Taliban bullet holes. These works are made out of cast industrial floor paint and are wall mounted. Since the start of 2009, Piers Secunda has been painting and silkscreening with crude oil. In the resulting works which depict the machinations of the oil industry, the crude handles like a paint, dries like paint and is colour fast. The exhibition is accompanied by a 32 page full colour catalogue, with a conversation between Piers Secunda and Gordon Cheung. Opening 16th November, 6-9pm.
