Line My Mind

Damage Playground, Rotterdam

An exhibition and collaboration between Sara Lou Kramer and Karla Marie Bentzen. A space where lines and shapes come together as a common interest in an imaginative world expressed in drawing and installation.

The installations of Lou Sara Kramer can be described as absurd and disproportioned ‘living rooms’ which have a stage-like two-dimensional appearance. They always consist of rigorous straight lines that create a platform for the playfulness of undefined abstract shapes. The intention of the installations is usually to make a performance which is filmed, documented ,and projected back into the space where the final presentation of the work takes place. For this exhibition she will be creating an ornamental wall installation.

Karla Marie Bentzen’s work is based on intricate geometrical shapes and patterns. A number of fictional characters set the scenes, they explore situations from everyday life, to grotesque almost carnivalesque imagery of horror and revenge. The scenes are made with a clear tongue in cheek approach, to an absurd world that openly explores the ugly and overwhelming aspects of life, which we usually try to hide or at least control. Apart from exhibiting 12 new drawings and two zines titled ‘With The Quick Speed You Make My Heart Beat’ and ‘The Bad Mood’, her geometric shapes will also leak onto Damage Playground’s windows as a site specific piece.

Afterdrink RAW Art Fair at the Playground: Wednesday February 6, 21.00-23.00 (we’re the opposite of the street of Raw Art Fair).

Opening on the same day as RAW Art Fair, Mondriaan Fund’s Prospects & Concepts at LantarenVenster, ART Rotterdam, OBJECT Rotterdam, and Re:Rotterdam. In other words, a splendid occasion to take a walk around ‘de Kaap’.
