The new international platform for contemporary art bridges the global art community offering collectors unrivalled access to international art with a focus on Turkey, the Middle East and beyond. The fair will also provide a programme of exhibitions, events and forums, enabling visitors to experience the rich cultural history of Istanbul.
ArtInternational Istanbul – the new international platform for contemporary art - will take place from 15th – 18th September
2013 at the spectacularly situated Haliç Congress Centre, which sits along the shores of the Golden Horn in Beyoglu,
Istanbul. Offering stunning panoramic views of historic Istanbul, the breathtaking new location provides visitors with the
option of arriving by special artist designed boats to Istanbul’s highly-anticipated new international art fair. The
organizers would also like to announce the appointment of Ahmet Misbah Demircan, Mayor of Beyoglu, to their Advisory
Board.
The Haliç Congress Centre is idyllically situated along the banks of the Haliç, or Golden Horn, within a short ten-minute
drive of downtown districts, thanks to two recently built tunnels. It is easily accessible from anywhere in the city and is
located in the district of Beyoglu. The Golden Horn forms the natural peninsula known as ‘Old İstanbul’, and has served
as the main harbor and shipyards of Byzantium, Constantinople and İstanbul over the millennia. ArtInternational Istanbul,
in bringing leading international and local galleries together in this historic location, has found in the vibrant multi-cultural
fabric of the area an ideal environment for the fair.
Ahmet Misbah Demircan, Mayor of Beyoglu formally joined the Advisory Board of the Fair earlier this month. During his
seven year tenure as Mayor thus far, he has transformed the district into one of the most culturally active and energetic
districts in the city, restoring over 4000 historic buildings, overseeing the development of a library now accessed by tens
of thousands of residents, and ushering in a number of Festivals, Awards and Education Initiatives in the fields of arts
and culture. As a result Beyoglu is at the heart of culture, art and tourism in Istanbul.

Presented by the co-owners of Art HK and the India Art Fair, ArtInternational Istanbul brings together leading and
emerging international and regional galleries. Drawing on its unique geographic location as a gateway between ‘East’
and ‘West’, in the city that is less than 4 hours flight from over 50 countries, the fair is well positioned to fast become a
cultural bridge spanning the art community, and a significant event on the international art circuit.
In addition to the participation of leading and emerging contemporary galleries, the fair will also provide a programme of
exhibitions, events and forums, enabling visitors to experience the rich cultural history of Istanbul alongside the
flourishing contemporary art scene developing today. Tapping into the growing international interest in the Middle
Eastern and Asian contemporary art scene, it offers collectors a focused space in which to consider the compelling art
emerging from these regions.

co-founded ArtHK, the Hong Kong international art fair, which has grown at an exponential rate. More recently, furthering
his interest in emerging art scenes and markets, Sandy Angus became a Shareholder and Director of India Art Fair.
Fair Director Dyala Nusseibeh said “Our aim is to create a dynamic art-world convergence in Istanbul, showcasing
exciting new works and focusing on quality over quantity. We hope to develop a strong cultural programme in tandem
with the Fair and to connect in particular with artistic developments in Turkey and the Middle East, whilst bringing in a
considered selection of other international galleries.”
Ursula Krinzinger, Galleries Selection Committee for the Fair, stated “Gallery Krinzinger has developed relations with
Turkish artists, galleries and collectors from Istanbul over several years. I am convinced that a professional art fair in the
city of Istanbul, such as ArtInternational Istanbul, is absolutely needed and I wanted to contribute as much as I can. For
me Istanbul is besides the fantastic art scene, collectors' scene and artists' scene, one of the most beautiful cities of the
world and this is also a reason to go there.”
