The Institute of International Visual Arts (inIVA) is celebrating its 10th Anniversary this year, with plans to build a major new centre for the visual arts with Autograph (ABP) in the heart of Shoreditch, London, designed by internationally renowned architects Adjaye/Associates. As part of our anniversary year, inIVA is pleased to announce the launch of the inIVA Digital Archive.

Documenting inIVA's artistic programme since 1994, the inIVA Digital Archive provides access to the work of contemporary visual artists, critics and curators from diverse cultural backgrounds. The inIVA Digital Archive section of our website is a gateway to an artistic heritage that reflects Britain's contemporary cultural make-up.

Informed by long-term active research concerning cultural diversity, the inIVA Digital Archive provides access to resources which historically have been undocumented and inaccessible to a wider public. The individuals and projects represented embrace the breadth of contemporary art, both locally and globally.

The inIVA Digital Archive contains the work of over 300 practitioners, 80 projects, 2000 images, texts and 7 hours of audio and video material that showcase key debates and artistic practice. It is an essential research tool for the educational audience, students, art practitioners and those interested in cultural diversity in the visual arts.

Launch event at inIVA from 6.30 pm on 27 April 2004, FREE

Route Maps
Four themed routes - SKIN, HOME, BORDERS and SPORT - provide a starting point for exploring the inIVA Digital Archive and are available on request from 27 April 2004.

Living Archive
The inIVA Digital Archive is a living archive, regularly updated to reflect inIVA's ongoing artistic programme.

New Opportunities Fund (NOF)
This project has been funded through the New Opportunities Fund's groundbreaking £50 million UK-wide digitisation programme which is designed to enable the learning materials and resources currently contained in galleries, communities, libraries, museums, universities and other centres of excellence, to be directly accessible to homes and communities via the internet. The Fund is the biggest of the National Lottery good cause distributors.

inIVA's programme of exhibitions and talks features artists and thinkers who explore the creative possibilities provided by the constant interaction of cultures in the contemporary world.
