Twenty-five Years of the Deutsche Bank Collection

With the exhibition "25", which will be on show from 30 April to 19 June 2005 at the Deutsche Guggenheim in Berlin, Deutsche Bank is celebrating the twenty-fifth birthday of its corporate collection. Twenty-five international personalities from art and business, all with close ties to the bank, were invited to select their favorite artworks from the collection: Jean-Christophe Ammann, Irina Antonova, Peter Beye, Rolf-E. Breuer, Sadie Coles, Christoph Graf Douglas, Klaus Gallwitz, Ingvild Goetz, Barbel Grasslin, Francesca von Habsburg, Tessen von Heydebreck, Max Hollein, Yoshiko Isshiki, Fred Jahn, Dakis Joannou, Hilmar Kopper, Thomas Krens, Paul Maenz, Ivo Mesquita, Mikail Piotrovksy, Miuccia Prada, Sir Simon Rattle, Craig Robins, Nicolaus Schafhausen and Wolfgang Wittrock.

This "external" perspective on the collection is complemented by the section "Curator's Choice," by means of which Dr. Ariane Grigoteit, Director of Deutsche Bank Art, conveys the "internal" view of the art in the bank.

The exhibition presents more than 300 art works by approximately 140 artists, including painting, photography, sculpture and video. The outstanding pieces from the world's largest corporate art collection, shown here for the first time ever in a comprehensive museum presentation, will be embedded in the spectacular exhibition architecture of Zaha Hadid, the London star architect and winner of the prestigious Pritzker Prize. The exhibition itself will thus form an extraordinary work of art, providing a survey of more than a hundred years of art history - from classical modernism to current positions in contemporary art. On the occasion of this event the exhibition surface of the Deutsche Guggenheim will for the first time be extended and connected to the adjacent building of the Deutsche Bank. Accompanying the exhibition is the catalogue "25" with 300 pages, available in German or English.
