Judy Pfaff “Recent Works" will feature master prints by this internationally renowned contemporary artist. An opening reception will be held Friday, April 7th from 6pm until 9pm at our South End location, 1440 South Tryon Street, suite 104, Charlotte, NC 28203.

Judy Pfaff, a London native is now recognized as an American artist and known for her conceptual and installation. Primarily an installation artist, Pfaff's paintings and prints have a three-dimensional quality. Her prints, “White Light, “XOX-OXO, and “Magnoliaceae" are inspired by Indian Sanskrit ledger books, and stenciling from computer laser shapes of plants from scientific journals. Although each print is distinctly its own, Pfaff brings the compositions together by finishing them with hand applied encaustic paint and fabric dyes.

Pfaff's work has been featured in over 100 solo exhibitions, and over 200 group shows. She has won numerous awards, including a Guggenheim Fellowship in sculpture (1983), an Honorary Doctorate at the Pratt Institute in New York (1999), and the MacArthur Fellowship in 2004. Her work appears in collections at the Modern Museum of Art in New York, the Whitney Museum of American Art in New York, and the High Museum of Art in Atlanta Georgia. Judy Pfaff received her MFA from Yale University in 1973. Since then Pfaff has held many faculty positions at institutions, such as Yale University, Princeton University, and was professor of visual arts at Columbia University . Pfaff is currently Professor of Art and Co-Chair of the Art Department at Bard College in New York.
