comunicato stampa

The DIFC Gulf Art Fair will take place at the spectacular Madinat Arena and Fort Island, a state of the art exhibition hall located within walking distance of some of the most luxurious hotels in the world and within the Madinat Jumeirah Resort. Built around a large lagoon beside the world famous Burj al Arab Hotel, the venue provides a relaxed and spacious venue for some forty international galleries.

I have great pleasure in inviting you to register for the 2008 DIFC Gulf Art Fair. As a joint venture with the Dubai International Finan- cial Centre, the DIFC Gulf Art Fair will become a major annual event and a significant new platform for international galleries seeking access to both private and institutional collectors across Asia. Situated within easy reach of Russia, India and South East Asia, Dubai is ideally placed to become the trading hub for some of the most exciting new art markets in the world. In bringing together the most innovative new art in one of the world’s most dynamic locations, the DIFC Gulf Art Fair offers an exceptional opportunity for contemporary galleries.
The arrival of the Guggenheim and Louvre Museum in Abu Dhabi heralds the start of major investment in contemporary art through- out the Gulf States. In addition there are important new private and corporate collections being formed across the region and our partnership with one of the fastest growing financial markets in the world, offers unique access to all the major banks and financial institutions operating in the Middle East.
The 2008 DIFC Gulf Art Fair aims to bring the finest contemporary and modern art from around the world to Dubai. As part of our policy to create a representative fair, a proportion of stands will be reserved for galleries from outside Europe and North America or those with a stong exhibition programme of non-Western art. A selection committee will be announced in March 2007. Successful galleries from the shortlist will be asked to submit detailed propos- als before 8 June 2007.
