The Changing Room, Stirling
This exhibition brings together four Edinburgh based artists whose work reflects concepts of place. Using a range of media from textiles and digital technology to photography and bookmaking, they each explore diverse interpretations of the theme; from hierarchy, personal space and physicality to location. The artists are Fiona Macalister, Helen Stringfellow, Anna Ray and Karen Loughridge
This exhibition brings together four Edinburgh based artists whose work
reflects concepts of place. Using a range of media from textiles and digital
technology to photography and bookmaking, they each explore diverse
interpretations of the theme; from hierarchy, personal space and physicality
to location.
The artists works include fabric pieces inspired by a fascination with both
the internal and external intricacies of the body, a replica of the ‘world’s
longest traffic jam’ referring to the constant re-presentation &
glorification of banal information, handmade books and flyposters listing
school rules and punishments which explore the paranoid atmosphere and
strictly controlled structure of a private boarding school and billboard
sized digital prints of holiday makers which look at the reality of ‘getting
away from it all’.
