Andres Serrano is one of the most controversial and challenging artists working today. Catapulted into the public eye with his now infamous photograph Piss Christ (an image of a crucifix suspended in the artist’s own urine) Serrano’s images are often shocking, intended to provoke us into reconsidering our attitudes to religion, political and cultural issues.

Provocative and intelligent, beautiful and
disturbing, this exhibition is the artist’s first
major retrospective. Included in the exhibition
are huge colour abstracts of bodily fluids and
religious icons, portraits of homeless people,
Native Americans and Klansmen, his series
on sexuality, and disturbing mortuary images.
This exhibition has been curated by
independent curator Mailin Barth, and
organised by Bjorn I Follevaag at
Foundation[3.14], Bergen, Norway.
This exhibition is unsuitable for children and
contains images which visitors may find
disturbing.
