Tomas Erhart

Galerie Lisi Hammerle, Bregenz

CellPhonology - High Voltage. The artist discovered the beauty of the Austrian mountains and got excited by the hospitallity and energy of the local people. He presents some of the photographic work, that he created during that time. His big format pictures of high-voltage-masts, dominating the landscape like 'sculptures in public space', are accompanied by smaller formats, his 'digital diaries' and a cluster of strongly formal architectural pieces.

comunicato stampa

Galerie Lisi Hämmerle, Anton-Schneider-Strasse 4a, 6900 Bregenz, Austria In his profession as a highly acquainted cinematographer, Tomas Erhart shot Reinhold Bilgeris movie: „A Breath of Heaven“ in the summer of 2009. During his stay, the renowned Berlin based PhotoArtist discovered the beauty of the Austrian mountains and got excited by the hospitallity and energy of the local people.

Now – half a year later – Tomas Erhart presents some of the photographic work, that he created during that time. His big format pictures of high–voltage–masts, dominating the landscape like „sculptures in public space“, are accompanied by smaller formats, his „digital diaries“ and a cluster of strongly formal architectural pieces.

CellPhonology: For the past five years, Erhart has been experimenting with the artistic styles of the CellCam. He christened his results: 'CellPhonology'.

In his portfolio of nearly 20.000 snapshots, shot with the in-built camera of his cellphone, Erhart expresses his radically new visual language. “CellPhonology translates the language of the artistic tradition of Polaroid and Lomography into the digital language of the 21st century.” (Tomas Erhart)

Important part of this project is his website: http://www.CellPhonology.com

It is the artists digital sketchbook, accesssible for everyone, that wants to follow his visual traces. Tomas Erhart will be welcoming Reinhold Bilgeri on the night of the opening.
