The first project under this name adds no sounds to the world: "urban furnishings" for a show in the center of Milan (Salone dell'Arredo Urbano, Esterni group, during Milan Furniture Fair in April 2003), a "listening point" cylinder with funnel-shaped ears attached to tubes to concentrate the sounds of the city inside.

Listening Points
Two installations: a cabin for listening to the city. No lateral windows. Two large funnels flare outward from the sides to channel sound inside. Large flexible tubes facilitate listening. You can also speak into the tubes for a megaphone effect.

For the Salone dell'Arredo Urbano (Urban Furnishings Fair) the installation was called "Punto d'Ascolto". It was installed at Piazza XXIV Maggio (Porta Ticinese) in Milan.

For the exhibition-event Isola dell'arte, April 13, with Isola Art Project, a group attempting to save an abandoned factory building (for a contemporary art center) and parks in a cool neighborhood in Milan threatened by the city's plan to build a highway through its middle, the installation was called "Isola d'Ascolto". Installed in the endangered park, it became more like a playground object, and was intensively used by toddlers. For more info click here: Isola dell'Arte

The installations were made in part with donated materials. Thanks to Rivierasca Spa and Fibrac Srl. Special thanks to Franco Spinelli (carpentry) and Donata Paruccini (design advice and precision workmanship).

This experience (and the Isola Art Project in general) is documented in the exhibition at MAMCO Geneva (click on the poster to the right).

The DE-ABC project (June 8 2003 Milan) is called Natural Mixer. See the press release

The installation Temples in summer-fall 2003 was part of the exhibition "Palazzo delle Libertà" at the Palazzo delle Papesse Contemporary Art Center in Siena.

UP IN THE AIR

DE-ABC is preparing a new installation entitled TKBK CTRL.

Is it possible to find the zone where entertainment ends and propaganda begins (or vice versa)? It might be the right place in which to build up immunity to both.
