The exhibition project “Motelization”—a wholly invented word to suggest the proliferation of motels—seeks to explore the motel phenomenon and all that it entails. The project attempts to tackle the architectural, historical, and sociological aspects of the conventional motel in an approach meant to be contextual. Being in close proximity to various motels, the Foreman Art Gallery serves as an ideal vantage point for that sort of experiment, both in the gallery space and in situ. In fact Lennoxville, as one of Sherbrooke’s many districts, holds a total of four motels all situated on Queen St. the town’s main road.

Alison S. M. Kobayashi & Gintas Tirilis exhibited their work in 2009 at the XPace Cultural Centre in Toronto. Kobayashi’s films have been presented in Canada, the United States and Hong-Kong. In 2009, she was also invited to produce a work at the Blackwood Gallery in Toronto.Tirilis has exhibited his sound sculptures and video installations in the Young and Restless exhibition at Justina M. Barnicke Gallery and Lennox Contemporary.
Andrew King is an architect, critic, author, and artist. He teaches in the architecture programs at McGill and Carleton. In 2003, he received the Prix de Rome in Architecture from the Canada Council for the Arts.
Angela Silveris completing an MFA at Concordia University. Her work has been presented at the Dumbo Art Centre in Brooklyn, at Dare-Dare in Montreal, at Engramme in Québec City, in Boston, Toronto, Rome, Calgary, Pittsburgh and New York.
Chantal Séguin holds an MFA from Laval University and is currently teaching Visual Arts at the Cégep of Sherbrooke. Her work was presented at Engramme and at l’Oeil de poisson in Québec, in Belgium, Poland, China, Italy and Mexico. She recently completed a residence in Ireland.
Andrée Anne Vien holds a Masters of Visual and Media Arts from UQÀM. She has fulfilled artistic and humanitarian internships in Mexico and at Burkina Faso. Her work has been presented at Dare-Dare in Montreal and recently at Caravansérail in Rimouski where she completed a residence.
