Gaps, emptinesses, chances and silences are methods of Cage's works.
And in a way of this tape too.
The main actors here are hands, actionless or acting, nervous or waiting. And clapping.
John Cage as careful watcher of his own works beeing performed at the Akademie der Kuenste der DDR on August 1,1990, a few months before his passing away.
The title corresponds to Cage's zen-buddhist philosophy and life style, which again is reflected in the above mentioned methods.
Wolf Kahlen pays homage to these.

TV Spiegel 1969/77
Being present, in time and place, that is what TV-Spiegel calls out.
The partly mirrored front, the drawing on this pane of the TV cabinet blends you into the ongoing prgramm, or set you in front, interfere in any case. Either you get envolved into the actual happening on TV or trapped into a history or story or you draw youself out of illusions, get out of the way, oppose or just stay and be cool.
Then you adventure the ordinary narcistic moment, to see yourself reflected, partly only, but...
You may shake hands with your own hands or with the pictored illusion or move back and forth in between both.
You are youself the nearest one, or you mirror yourself in another person on screen.
No nearer you can get to both at the same time.
(Today the call this 'game' interactivie and mean erroneously, that the togetherness of beeing in and out of the 'story' at instant,
delivers some new reality: But instead you just experience, who you are already, nothing new.)
