A touch of summer. A large overview of the photographic works from the Italian photographer Massimo Vitali. Beaches are traditionally fantasised as places of relaxation and recreation, but the teeming crowds of human bodies, towels and deckchairs he photographs in his beach series make them into monuments of the missing harmony between man and nature.
A large overview of the photographic works from the Italian photographer Massimo Vitali will be on display in the exhibition “A touch of summer” at Hilger Brotkunsthalle.The time period from the beginning of the Beach Series up to today will be shown.
His analogue photographs, verging on voyeurism, reflect reality without any enhancement by touching up or editing the pictures. His works always focus on anonymous masses of people populating landscapes radically shaped by human hand.
