Abstraction
Lyons Wier Gallery is pleased to announce the opening of our new gallery space at 511 West 25th Street, rm. 205 (Whitehall Bldg) with New York artist Miki Lee.
Miki Lee's current abstract paintings reflect her interest in the complexity
of color and the vast emotional range color can evoke in the viewer.
The foundation of Ms. Lee's work addresses various states of meditation.
Each of her paintings set out to elicit specific emotional responses by
combining color, negative space, repetition, and scale. The compositions
are constructed of one inch wide zigzag bands of color that are
painstakingly hand-drawn then in-painted. This laborious process demands an
exacting discipline yet allow for an ever-changing arrangement. The
seemingly chaotic compositions constantly evolve until each individual color
complements one another achieving a visual harmony that is meant to be
experienced over time, viewed at varying distances, and discovered through
the intimacy of self-reflection.
