In Free Fall. The exhibition is part of Edinburgh Art Festival is Scotland's largest annual festival of visual art. Hito Steyerl's films are a montage of pop and politics, Hollywood and independent film, interviews and voice-over commentaries; all combined into provocative filmic analyses of the present. The gallery present a solo festival exhibition by Hito Steyerl in association with Picture This, Bristol and Chisenhale, London. Featuring a new film commission, In Free Fall, that will be toured to each venue. Also showing: Staged by Kim Coleman and Jenny Hogarth Collective offsite at City Observatory Calton Hill with an installation that mixes live and pre-recorded footage from CCTV cameras around the city. On 30 July, 4-6pm, to celebrate the launch of two new commissions, Collective Gallery has devised a festival symposium with exhibiting artists Hito Steyerl, Kim Coleman & Jenny Hogarth and other speakers including theorist Alfredo Cramerotti (author of Aesthetic Journalism), Francis McKee (curator and writer) and Lisa Panting (Director of Picture This, Bristol) chaired by Ian White (LUX, London).
