Black Hole Suck And So Do I
Kapinos Gallery is proud to announce its second solo exhibition by Peter
Robinson and
invites you to attend the reception for the artist on Friday September
20th from 7pm - 9pm.
The latest works by Peter Robinson, drawings executed in oil stick and
acrylic on paper,
can be read as a sketch-like diary in which everything is listed that
the artist finds 'exotic',
exciting, interesting, important and bizarre. His compendium comprises
notes about the global
situation as well as Berlin's regional cuisine, sex ads,the cult made
around pets, to art history
and rock music. The private and media world, pop and politics clash. By
combining text and image
to drawings, new semantic contexts emerge, the meaning of the image is
extended, associations arise
that turn into witty, funny and at times malicious comments. At the same
time Robinson reflects his
own oeuvre in a self-ironic way and celebrates a re-take of his
earlier,original style in a crude
yet forceful 'Return of the Hand'.
Peter Robinson is currently represented at the following exhibitions:
Divine Comedy, Auckland City Art Gallery, Auckland, New Zealand (solo)
The Return of The Hand, Peter McLeavey Gallery, Wellington, New Zealand
