Sense + scape + time + memory. This exhibition's open curatorial premise asked artists to consider memory in relation to place. It's title refers to the forgotten art of mnemotechnics that once used unique physical elements of architectural space and landscape to trigger memory.
Sense + scape + time + memory
This exhibition's open curatorial
premise asked artists to consider
memory in relation to place. It's
title refers to the forgotten art of
mnemotechnics that once used
unique physical elements of
architectural space and landscape
to trigger memory. Where
mnemotechnics functioned to assist
orators in the delivery of rhetoric
and lectures, Mnemotech aims to question our relationship
with and memory of the environments and landscapes we
inhabit, and to broadly challenge and expand upon the
notion of scapes.
These artists explore the possibilities of re-presenting
place, documenting, recording and responding to physical
memory in numerous disciplines from paint, photography
and three-dimensional objects to laserlight, sound and
video.
