E-STRAORDINARIO on tour in Poland

Approda in Polonia E-STRAORDINARIO, il progetto di formazione ideato e promosso dalla Fondazione Ermanno Casoli, in collaborazione con l’azienda Elica, allo scopo di creare un dialogo costruttivo fra il mondo dell’arte e quello dell’impresa. L’evento, dal titolo E-STRAORDINARIO on tour in Poland, si svolgerà lunedì 29 e martedì 30 novembre presso gli stabilimenti di Elica a Jelcz-Laskowice, nella Bassa Slesia, e vedrà protagonisti l’artista polacco Grzegorz Drozd e i dipendenti del gruppo aziendale.
L’iniziativa è co-curata da Stach Szablowski, curatore presso il Centro d’Arte Contemporanea Zamek Ujazdowski e Marcello Smarrelli, direttore artistico della Fondazione Ermanno Casoli.

Nato come progetto sperimentale, E-STRAORDINARIO rappresenta oggi un’alternativa vincente e innovativa rispetto ai tradizionali metodi formativi del personale in azienda: la presenza e gli interventi degli artisti nei luoghi di lavoro, infatti, costituiscono una reale occasione di crescita e di sviluppo per i dipendenti. Ciò consente all’azienda e alla Fondazione di affermarsi sempre di più come modello di riferimento all’avanguardia nel campo della formazione attraverso l’arte.
“E-STRAORDINARIO si inserisce nel processo di interscambio culturale che Elica ha avviato fra le sue sedi, sparse in diverse parti del mondo”, spiega Marco Scippa, direttore Risorse Umane del Gruppo, e aggiunge: “Riteniamo che investire sulle persone, avendo il coraggio di esplorare nuove tecniche per favorire la loro crescita professionale e personale, sia il modo migliore per fare innovazione e trasmettere stabilità, dinamismo e modernità”.
Ecco perchè, dopo il successo riscontrato in Italia, si è deciso di puntare all’internazionalizzazione di E-STRAORDINARIO on tour, portandolo nel plant produttivo in Polonia.

Per questa edizione, i due curatori hanno scelto un artista la cui ricerca risultasse affine agli obiettivi della Fondazione, fondati su sperimentazione, multimedialità, interazione di codici e discipline differenti e su un’idea di arte che genera relazioni e partecipazione. Grzegorz Drozd utilizza forme espressive eterogenee come la performance, la musica, la pittura, il video per dare vita a situazioni che sorprendono lo spettatore e lo portano a mettere in discussione i parametri convenzionali a cui è abituato. Acuto osservatore della vita moderna, Drozd sovverte i costumi e i rituali della società, creando degli spettacoli surreali in cui i ruoli di artista e pubblico si confondono.
Il progetto che Drozd propone per E-STRAORDINARIO on tour si basa sul concetto di azione collettiva e mette in evidenza la potenzialità creativa della comunità composta dai lavoratori in fabbrica.
L’idea è quella d’introdurre degli elementi insoliti nella vita quotidiana dello stabilimento, mantenendo però il metodo e l’organizzazione del lavoro industriale.
Dopo essere entrato nella vita della fabbrica attraverso un’auto-presentazione video, l’artista, avvalendosi della collaborazione di un trainer che farà da mediatore, incontrerà i dipendenti del plant, fra impiegati e operai, con cui realizzerà una performance musicale.
Nell’ambito aziendale ogni individuo è parte di un sistema più ampio e complesso e l’azione congiunta di tutti è finalizzata a un obiettivo comune: la produzione. Analogamente, nel progetto ideato da Grzegorz Drozd, ciascun dipendente si impegnerà a svolgere la propria parte per il raggiungimento di uno scopo condiviso, quello cioè di generare un’opera d’arte collettiva di cui ognuno sarà autore e protagonista.

Il risultato finale del workshop sarà un video clip, che Drozd realizzerà basandosi sulla registrazione dell’esecuzione della performance. Mentre gli strumenti musicali impiegati durante il workshop saranno devoluti in beneficienza a favore.
Questo video entrerà a far parte di Elica Contemporary, la collezione d’arte contemporanea allestita negli spazi di Elica.

Promuovendo questa iniziativa Elica, nata nel 1970 e leader mondiale nel settore delle cappe aspiranti per cucina, si dimostra sempre più attenta alle esigenze e alla qualità della vita dei suoi dipendenti. Grazie a questa particolarità Elica vince il Great Place to Work Award Italy and Europe 2008, 2009 e 2010 e, dal 2009, è tra i TOP Employers italiani. Nel 2009, inoltre, vince il Premio Etica e Impresa nella categoria Responsabilità Sociale.

Grzegorz Drozd nasce nel 1970 a Varsavia, dove vive e lavora. Dopo essersi diplomato all’Accademia di Belle Arti di Varsavia, vince una borsa di studio presso il Ministero Polacco della Cultura e del Patrimonio Nazionale. Dal 2003 inizia un’intensa attività espositiva sia in Polonia che in altre parti del mondo. Fra le mostre personali più recenti ricordiamo: Universal, Varsavia / Lettere a mio fratello, Cracovia, 2010; Postcards View, Leto Gallery, Varsavia, 2009; Lack, Centre for Contemporary Art Ujazdowski Castle, Varsavia, 2007. Tra le collettive: Information, another city, another life, Zacheta National Gallery of Art, Varsavia, 2008; Bridge Art Fair, Berlino, 2008; Queue, Art Centre Lochgelly, Lochgelly, Scozia, 2008; Establishment, Centre for Contemporary Art Ujazdowski Castle, Varsavia, 2008. With the Patronage of the Centre of Contemporary Art Ujazdowski Castle

E-STRAORDINARIO arrives in Poland. E-STRAORDINARIO is a training program promoted by Fondazione Ermanno Casoli in collaboration with Elica, with the purpose of establishing a constructive communication between the art and business worlds. The event, entitled E-STRAORDINARIO on tour in Poland, is taking place Monday 29 and Tuesday 30 November in the Elica plants in Jelcz-Laskowicev, in Lower Silesia; protagonists of the initiative will be Polish artist Grzegorz Drozd and the employees of the group.
The project is co-curated by Stach Szablowski, curator of the Zamek Ujazdowski Contemporay Art Center and Marcello Smarrelli, artistic director of Fondazione Ermanno Casoli.

Born as an experimental project, E-STRAORDINARIO today represents a winning and innovative alternative to traditional company training programs: the presence and the interventions of artists on the workplace in fact represent a true occasion of growth and development for the employees. By carrying out this project the company and the foundation can increasingly establish themselves as a state of the art reference point in the field of training through art.
“E-STRAORDINARIO is part of the cultural exchange process that Elica has set up between its premises around the world,” explains Marco Scippa, Head of Human Resources of the Group, who also adds: “we believe that to invest in people, and to have the courage to explore new techniques to foster their professional and personal growth, is the best way to innovate and convey stability, dynamism and modernity”.
That’s why, following the success achieved in Italy, it was decided to invest in the internationalization of E-STRAORDINARIO on tour, introducing it into the productive plant in Poland.

For this edition the two curators have chosen an artist whose research appears close to the foundation’s objectives, based on experimentation, multimedia, interaction between different codes and disciplines, and on a conception of art as a generator of relations and participation.
Grzegorz Drozd uses heterogeneous forms of expression such as performance, music, painting, and video, to set forth situations that take the spectator by surprise and make him question the conventional parameters which he is used to. Drozd, a fine observer of modern life, overthrows society’s habits and rituals creating surreal shows in which the role of artist and of spectator mingle into one another.
The project that Drozd will present for E-STRAORDINARIO on tour is based on the concept of collective action emphasizing the creative potential of the community of the plant’s workers.
The idea is to introduce unusual elements inside the factory’s daily routine, however preserving the methods and the organization of industrial work.
After introducing himself to the factory life with a self presentation video, the artist, with the help of a trainer that will act as mediator, will encounter the office and factory workers of the plant, with whom he’ll realize a musical performance.
Inside a company, each individual is part of a wider and more complex system and the combined action of everyone aims towards a common objective: production. Analogously, in Grzegorz Drozd’s project, each employee will be engaged in doing his part in the accomplishment of a common objective, that will be the creation of a collective artwork of which everyone will be author and protagonist.

The final result will be a video that Drozd will realize using the footage of the performance. The musical instruments used during the workshop will be given to charity. The video will become part of Elica Contemporary, the contemporary art collection showcasing on the Elica premises.

By promoting this initiative, Elica world leader company in the production of domestic hoods founded in 1970, proves ever more attentive to the needs and the quality of life of its employees. Thanks to this distinguishing mark Elica has won the Great Place to Work Award Italy and Europe 2008, 2009 and 2010 and, since 2009, ranks among Italy’s TOP Employers. In 2009 Elica also won the Premio Etica e Impresa in the Social Responsibility category.

The Ermanno Casoli Foundation, dedicated to the memory of Elica’s founder, was established in 2007 with the aim of fostering the relationship between the world of art and the world of industry through a series of initiatives designed to bring contemporary art into the workplace.
The activities promoted by the Ermanno Casoli Foundation are based on the consideration that an exchange of knowledge, the contamination of experience, the act of reflecting on our own sense of identity and history, can reinforce social cohesion, competitiveness, creativity and innovation. We believe that the art, with its ability to see things from an unusual perspective and to propose unorthodox approaches to problems, is the ideal instrument to enrich a company with an alternative system of values: a system that focuses on people and the affective, social, cultural and historical context of the community.

Grzegorz Drozd was born in 1970 in Warsaw where he currently lives and works. After graduating at the Fine Art Academy in Warsaw, he won a grant from Poland’s Ministry of Culture and National Heritage. Since 2003 he has extensively exhibited in Poland and abroad. Among his most recent solo exhibitions are: Universal, Warsaw / Lettere a mio fratello, Cracow, 2010; Postcards View, Leto Gallery, Warsaw 2009; Lack, Centre for Contemporary Art Ujazdowski Castle, Warsaw, 2007. Among his group exhibitions are: Information, another city, another life, Zacheta National Gallery of Art, Warsaw, 2008; Bridge Art Fair, Berlin, 2008; Queue, Art Centre Lochgelly, Lochgelly, Scotland, 2008; Establishment, Centre for Contemporary Art Ujazdowski Castle, Warsaw, 2008.
